Catalan Masia (Spanish Farmhouse) turned into Traditional Restaurants.

Are you planning a trip to Catalonia, Spain? Make sure to add a visit to a Masia to your itinerary! Masias are traditional Catalan farmhouses that were once the homes of wealthy families. These rectangular-shaped buildings, with two sloping roofs and at least two stories, served as storage and living facilities.

When you visit a Masia, you’ll be transported back in time to a bygone era. The ground floor was typically reserved for farming tools or livestock, while the upper floor was where the family lived. Some Masias even had an extra floor used as a  granary or pigeon house, and some even had a private chapel!

While many Masias have been turned into residential villas in modern times, there are still some that operate as restaurants or centers for rural tourism. One of the best Masias to visit is the Masia Restaurant Torre del Conill in Castellbisal-Terrassa, just a 20-minute drive from the center of Terrassa on B-151.

During my visit to this Masia, I was blown away by its beauty and charm. The friendly and kind-hearted Spanish friends I was with only added to the unforgettable experience. So don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Catalonia by visiting a Masia during your trip!

As soon as you enter the premises a tall yellow colored Masia building welcomes you to a totally different experience. Just before entering into the restaurant be ready to witnessed the most attractive Peacock’s dance (Only if you are lucky..!).

Surrounded by Olive farms this Masia is a perfect place to chill in the COVID times away from city’s hustle and bustle. Enjoy the magnifiscent view with local music while sipping the best homemade Vermut and Beer with Tapas. All you need is a good appetite…!

Hangout with Cristina, Nestor and Ponc.

Things only get better and surprising inside the Masia after finishing with vermut, beer and tapas. Inside the Masia, a huge cellar serves as an area where you can drink unlimited vermut or a drink of your choise with lots of mouth watering appetizers. The walls of wine cellar are decorated with barrels containing homemade vermut and wine.

When you are in Spain, do as the Spaniards do. We started at 12:00 o’clock and drank lots of vermut and tasted all sorts of appetizers. And the wait was finally over for the most delicious main course to be eaten at Spanish lunch time 15:00 o’clock.

Well, its not over yet until more flavours on the way…!!

And finally in the late evening the tummy was full but still a place for good-bye drink: some whisky and gin-tonic. What a perfect day it was !

Cheers and thanks to Cristina, Nestor and Ponc for this memorable experience,
